I. Wilson Baker, Photographer

When I. Wilson Baker entered the University of South Carolina in the 1970s, he didn't know what major would be right for him. Although he graduated in business, he returned to study marine science and photography. Through this course work, Baker found his love and respect for nature and the great outdoors fueled his passion to capture those images on film.

In 1980, Baker entered the world of professional photography. After moving to the Charleston area in 1981, he answered the call of a variety of clients to do color and black and white work. As a result of this vast experience through the years, Baker is equally as comfortable and skilled at shooting a portrait on location for use in a corporate brochure as he is shooting a piece of raw land for a developer or a product shot in his studio.

Over the last decade, Baker embraced digital photography – incorporating his trained eye, experience, and talent with the latest technology. While he still uses film when a situation demands it, he likes the control that today's technology brings to his profession, as well as the instant gratification it affords his clients.

Technology has also allowed Baker the opportunity to delve into fine art photography. Inspired by the magnificent South Carolina Lowcountry and its varied lifestyle, he now offers images, including panoramas, for framing. Using an in-house, high-end Giclée printer, Baker can now control the color and quality of his own fine art reproductions.

The I. Wilson Baker Photography Studio is located at 1094 Morrison Dr. in downtown Charleston, S.C. For information, please call (843) 577-0828.
